Q: What kind of store is this?
A: I Need This Unicorn is an online-only shop offering apparel and accessories with a mix of alternative, metal, horror, fantasy, video-game, and glam-fantasy influences. Everything is handmade or print-on-demand — made for people who love bold style, fun makeup, and playful fashion.
Q: Who’s behind this brand?
A: Hi! I’m Jessica — an artist from the San Francisco Bay Area. This shop is my personal creative project. I’m not a big influencer or major brand — just me, creating things I love.
Q: What inspires your designs?
A: I draw inspiration from metal music, horror movies, fantasy art, video games, and glam/fantasy beauty aesthetics.
Production & Materials
Q: What printing methods do you use?
A: Depends on the item. For some shirts and accessories I use a printing company that does Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing — which means each item is printed directly on demand using special inks. For items I make myself (like certain tees or handmade goods), I use a Cricut and vinyl, or other hand-crafting methods.
Q: Are items pre-made, or made-to-order?
A: Many of our items are made to order — which means we don’t stock every shirt in every size, but produce them when you place an order. Other items — like certain handmade goods — may already be in stock.
Q: What brands of shirts do you use?
A: We use trusted brands like Bella + Canvas, Next Level, etc.
Shipping & Delivery
Q: Where do you ship from?
A: Because we use different print-on-demand providers and some items are handmade in my home studio (Bay Area, CA), orders ship from a variety of locations across North America.
Q: How long will shipping take?
A: Since many items are made-to-order, please allow 1–2 weeks for printing and processing under normal conditions. If you order something handmade (like customized resin crafts), it may take longer depending on materials and prepping time.
Q: Will my order arrive in one shipment?
A: Not always. Because different items in your order may be produced by different manufacturers, they may ship separately. That means you could receive multiple shipment notifications for a single order.
Q: Do you offer rush shipping?
A: Unfortunately no — we don’t offer rush shipping, since production and shipping times depend on third-party printers. If you need something by a certain date, placing your order as early as possible gives you the best chance.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Currently, we ship to the United States. No other international destinations at this time as it has been costly and complicated to do so.
Care Instructions & Product Issues
Q: How should I wash my shirts?
A: For cotton tees: wash in cold water, tumble-dry on medium or low. For more delicate strechy fabrics and anything decorated with vinyl or foil, we recommend hand-wash or Woolite + hang dry — they tend to stretch or shrink with heavy washing/drying.
Q: What if the shirt shrinks or the size doesn't fit?
A: Because of varying fits across different shirt brands and styles, we encourage checking the Size Chart before ordering. We cannot accept returns/refunds for shrinkage after washing or for simple change-of-mind — unless there was an obvious printing error.
Q: The print doesn’t look like the mock-up. Why?
A: Mock-ups are digital representations, and actual printed results (color, placement, brightness) can vary slightly depending on the printing company and the batch. If the product you receive looks significantly different from what was shown, email me with photos and I’ll review with the printer.
Returns, Exchanges & Mistakes
Q: What is your return/exchange policy?
A: Because most items are custom made or print-on-demand, we generally do not accept returns — unless there is a clear printing mistake (wrong design, major printing defect, damaged item). In that case, we are happy to exchange for the correct size or item.
Q: What if the item I ordered arrives damaged or incorrect?
A: Email me ASAP with photos. I’ll do my best to sort it out — whether that means a replacement, exchange, or refund, depending on the issue.

Q: Do you ever have sales or discounts?
A: Yes! Occasionally we run sales or offer promo codes. To stay updated, subscribe to our email list and follow us on social media.
Q: Can you buy your merchandise in person (e.g., at a fair or market)?
A: Right now I’m an online-only store. If I ever do a pop-up, fair, or craft show, I’ll announce it on social media and email list.
